Epic battle for the top in the Winter Split Finals 2025 presented by WHAT’S UP of the Hellenic Legends League (HLL)

On the weekend of March 1st and 2nd, 2025, the DANAOS Cinema in Athens turned into a real battlefield for League of Legends fans, as it hosted the final playoffs of the Hellenic Legends League (HLL) Winter Split 2025’SUP. The official Greek league, organized in collaboration with Riot Games, reached the climax of the first split, with the country’s top four teams competing for the title of champion and a spot in the EMEA Masters championship.

The Road to the Finals

The HLL Winter Split 2025 regular season, which began on January 21st and concluded on March 2nd, was full of tension and twists. After 14 matches, Team Phantasma and Team Paradox stood out, directly securing their places in the final four thanks to their outstanding performance. The remaining two spots were decided in the playoffs, where the teams that qualified from the round of 6 gave their all to reach the grand final. The tournament structure, with a single elimination bracket, gave the matches a “do or die” character, while the use of the “Hard Fearless Draft” – where each champion can only be selected once in each series – added additional strategic depth.

The Battle at DANAOS

The finals were held in front of a fanatical audience, who filled the DANAO cinema with enthusiasm and energy. Saturday, March 1st, began with the and concluded on Sunday, March 2nd, with the grand final. The matches, with the exception of the final which was a best-of-five, were held in best-of-three series, testing the skills, endurance and cooperation of the teams.

Team Phantasma, one of the most stable and dynamic teams in the Greek scene, managed to reach the final and emerge as champions, prevailing in a way that showed that the top was not a coincidence, but the result of hard work and team spirit. Team Phantasma, after an impressive performance, defeated Gamespace MCE in the final with 3-1, winning the prize of €2,000 and the qualification to the EMEA Masters Winter 2025 while 2nd place will receive €1,500 and €750 each will go to Team paradox & WL. Pepe, mid laner of Team Phantasma, was declared MVP for his outstanding contribution.

Their victory confirmed their dominance in HLL and sent a strong message to their opponents, both in and outside of Greece.

A Celebration for Greek Esports

Beyond the games, the HLL Winter Split 2025 finals offered a complete experience to the spectators. The event was enriched with surprises such as competitions, gifts from the event sponsors Samsung, Kit-Kat, Red Bull, Anda Seat and a Cosplay Parade with old and new cosplayers of the Greek community, who raised the spirits and made the appearance unforgettable. DANAOS was transformed into a “temple of League of Legends”, where action was combined with entertainment, celebrating the strength and development of Greek esports.

Major sponsor WHAT’S UP, which has been supporting esports in Greece since 2019, played a decisive role in the success of the organization, offering fans unique moments and upgrading their experience. His presence reinforced the message that gaming and esports are now an integral part of modern culture.

What’s next?

With Team Phantasma’s victory, the HLL Winter Split 2025 concluded on a high note, promising even more exciting moments in the future. The participation of the champion team in the EMEA Masters will give Greece the opportunity to appear on the international stage, while the remaining teams prepare for the next split, which begins on April 1st.
